2019
The idea for Erupt was born in a small room with a big vision: Dario's room. In intensive brainstorming sessions, we developed initial concepts and gradually shaped our vision for the first gaming and esports location in Bern.
We quickly got friends and acquaintances excited about our idea and worked out ambitious business plans together. In the same year, we founded Erupt Esports GmbH, laying the foundation for our company.
Our first public appearances at festivals and trade fairs confirmed our plans - the response was overwhelming. Inspired by further innovative concepts, our vision became clearer and clearer. And so, little by little, Erupt took shape.
2020
With the ideal location at Bern railway station, we overcame a major hurdle. Despite the pandemic, delays and regulatory challenges, we pushed ahead with the renovation work. At the same time, we expanded our offering through a partnership with GoodGames Bern in the area of trading cards and pooled valuable resources.
A successful crowdfunding campaign enabled us to co-finance the project and actively involve the community. Another milestone followed with the transformation of Erupt Esports GmbH into ERUPT AG.
Thanks to early supporters, we also received our first furniture and gaming equipment. Even though it was not possible to open this year, anticipation grew with every step forward - and Erupt's vision became increasingly clear.
2021
Despite the doors still being closed, we already hosted our first major esports events and gained valuable experience. In the spring, we hosted the finals of the Swisscom Hero League and the Swiss Esports League - a strong signal for the future of Erupt.
In June, our vision became reality: with the opening of the Erupt Lounge, we launched the first gaming and esports location in Bern and welcomed our first guests.
Shortly afterwards, we achieved our next milestone and our first international esports event with Race to World First, the world's leading World of Warcraft guild Echo. This put Switzerland on the international esports map for the first time.
After the pandemic-related break, we also returned to HeroFest - together with our partner Medion - and were awarded the ‘Prix Effort’, the youth prize of the Burgergemeinde Bern, for our social commitment.
2022
The year 2022 was all about innovation and new ideas. At the beginning of the year, we thrilled our community with fresh event formats such as Retro Days and gathered valuable inspiration for future experiments.
Events increasingly became the centrepiece of our lounge and brought the community closer together. In the summer, we also developed the first versions of our Love and Mana Potions, which quickly became a popular highlight.
After three years, we returned to HeroFest with our own appearance. With Horror Nights, we also laid the foundation for seasonal event formats.
The crowning glory of the year was Echo's second Race to World First: while the lounge was closed for three weeks, the guild once again won a World First title with us shortly before Christmas.
2023 onwards
In 2023, one event followed another - both in the lounge and, for the first time, externally with our bar operation. We supported the bar area at the Lock and Load LAN Party, which led to a close partnership that continues to this day.
At the same time, a new chapter began: founders Dario, Matthew and Levi took a step back from operations and began supporting the team behind the scenes.
With a breath of fresh air, the new team developed the forward-looking Seasons concept over the summer. The launch of Season 3 in autumn 2023 set new standards and made the Seasons concept the common thread of our further development.
The successful events impressively demonstrated how vibrant our vision of Erupt is. Thanks to the tremendous support of our community, we look to the future with confidence - because the journey is far from over.
